The Art Of Appreciation

I read a quote the other day on Facebook from Gay and Katie Hendricks page, Conscious Loving Relationships.  It said:

‘Relationships take a quantum leap when each partner practices appreciation of the other person as a daily art form.’

I wondered what that would mean in the family dynamic if we started doing that to not only our partners but our children too.

Do you regularly appreciate your kids?  I dont just mean internally, I mean by communicating it to them.  And how about your partner or other loved ones in your life?

The definition I found in the dictionary for the word ‘Appreciation’ was:

‘Recognition of the value or significance of something.  Gratitude.’

How wonderful does it feel when someone appreciates you, or is grateful for something you’ve done?

I have been trying it recently with my other half, and it makes me feel good too!

Its also a great idea to remember to say ‘Thankyou’ to your children in place of praise if possible; i.e somewhere where normally you’d find yourself saying ‘Good boy’ or ‘Good job’ to your child, but to an adult you’d say Thankyou.  Try and get into the habit of saying ‘Thankyou’ instead and let me know what kind of responses you get.

I practice gratitude every day when I wake up. It's like a meditation for me, to thank the Universe, the Life, for all the things I appreciate in my life. I try to find 5 things every day and I feel my whole body, heart and mind the wonderful energy it gives me. It's a divine love energy nourrishing me for the whole day. So I can keep it and express my gratitude during all the rest of the day at every opportunity to all persons with whom I live, I work or I share a moment. You can aso feel the energy of happiness because you live the present moment.
PS : so sorry for my broken english. I'm french… If somedy wants to correct it, it would be nice for the other person to read it.
